Composite Films of Nanofibrillated Cellulose with Sepiolite: Effect of Preparation Strategy
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) are nanomaterials with promising properties to be used in food packaging and printed electronics, thus being logical substitutes petroleum-based polymers, specifically plastics. CNFs can combined other materials, such as clay minerals, form composites, which environmentally friendly acceptable costs without compromising the final of composite material. To produce films, two strategies used: solvent casting filtration followed by hot pressing. The first approach is simplest way but obtained films may present some limitations. In work, produced using enzymatic or TEMPO (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl radical) oxidation pretreatments, high-pressure homogenization, only mechanical treatment (homogenization), were both available procedures. + pressing presented higher tensile strength Young’s modulus compared those casting. general, a decrease values these elongation at break, addition sepiolite, also observed. However, for CNF-based an improvement could observed 10% sepiolite content. Furthermore, time necessary was largely reduced employing procedure. Finally, water vapour barrier comparable literature net CNF films. Thus, this technique demonstrates most suitable fast improved gas properties.

Three-Dimensional Microstructural Properties of Nanofibrillated Cellulose Films
Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) films have potential as oxygen barriers for, e.g., food packaging applications, but their use is limited by their hygroscopic characteristics. The three-dimensional microstructure of NFC films made of Pinus radiata (Radiata Pine) kraft pulp fibres has been assessed in this study, considering the structural development as a function of relative humidity (RH). The ...

Now a day there is an emerging interest in replacing non-renewable additives with biodegradable compounds. Cellulose plays very important role in this modification. Their low cost and low density associated with high specific mechanical properties represent a good renewable and biodegradable alternative to the most commonly used synthetic reinforcement. The cellulose was modified by using 2-(Tr...
متن کاملPreparation and Characterization of Polyvinyl Alcohol-Chitosan Composite Films Reinforced with Cellulose Nanofiber
In this study microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was oxidized by 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl radical (TEMPO)-mediated oxidation. The treated cellulose slurry was mechanically homogenized to form a transparent dispersion which consisted of individual cellulose nanofibers with uniform widths of 3-4 nm. Bio-nanocomposite films were then prepared from a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-chitosan (CS) ...
